RAWA's Malalai Hospital

Scenes from the hospital, including doctors receiving instruments and material brought in by FemAid at the end of October 2003. The women have walked for hours to come to this clinic for free treatment, the only one of its kind left for Afghan refugees in Rawalpindi. A woman is nursing her hydrocephalous child, who cannot be saved.
Quelques scènes de la hôpital Malalai géré par RAWA dans le quartier afghan de Rawalpindi où FemAid a apporté du matériel médical fin octobre 2003, reçu ici par l'équipe de médecin, y compris la gynécologue.Les malades sont venus à pied d'un bidonville le long de l'autoroute pour se faire soigner gratuitement ici. En dehors de cette clinique, les réfugiés afghans, d'une extrême pauvreté, n'ont pas accès aux soins gratuits . La photo à droite représente un enfant hydrocéphale, pour lequel il n'y a aucun espoir de survie
More scenes from Malalai Hospital, in May : the child on the left is dying of dehydration/l'enfant à gauche est en train de mourir de déhydratation. Il fait plus de 40° à l'intérieur de l'hôpital, au mois de mai quand ces photos ont été prises.
On the right, a mother waiting with her children. Despite the sweltering heat indoors (around 40 C/in the 100 F, she is shrouded in a burqa); after waiting for a couple of hours, however sick, she and all the other women waiting there, will walk "home" to her mud-house in the shanty town along the highway, situated over an hour away.
